Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a July 21 Federal Register notice has extended the test of certain unique entry identifiers for the Global Business Identifier (GBI) Evaluative Proof of Concept to Feb. 14, 2024, subject to any extension, modification, or early termination as announced in the Federal Register.

The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) and International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada announced July 13 that they reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract, effectively ending a 13-day strike of 7,500 dockworkers at the Ports of Prince Rupert and Vancouver.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is actively looking to recruit additional participants for the Beta Pilot expected to begin in October. During the pilot, importers can participate as much or as little as desired, providing an excellent opportunity to try out the system before efiling of CPSC Certificate data becomes mandatory in late 2024.
