Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI) and John Cornyn (R-TX) announced on April 28 their reintroduction of bipartisan legislation to strengthen border security and increase Customs and Border Protection (CBP) staffing at ports of entry. The Securing America’s Ports of Entry Act (S. 1253) would fully staff America’s airports, seaports, and land ports-of-entry by requiring CBP to hire no less than 600 additional officers a year until the agency’s staffing needs are met.
