  • CBP Updates ACE Air, Ocean and Rail CAMIR New Disposition Codes for Insufficient Cargo Description-Shipper-Consignee

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Aug. 20 will make available for testing in Certification (CERT) rejection error codes for bill submissions that have an invalid cargo description, shipper name, and consignee name, in addition to the previously deployed disposition codes for holds that are part of the ACE enhancement for Automated Rejection of Insufficient Cargo Description, Shipper Name, and Consignee Name.

  • Supreme Court Clears Way for Sweeping Government Worker Layoffs

    The U.S. Supreme Court on July 9 lifted a lower court that blocked nearly a dozen federal government agencies from implementing layoffs and reorganizations involving hundreds of thousands of federal workers. The decision paves the way for these agencies to move forward with the reorganization and reduction-in-force plans, as required by Executive Order 14210 issued in March. The reorganization plans have been on hold since the May 2 injunction.

  • USDA Again Halts Livestock Imports from Mexico

    U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on July 9 announced an immediate shutdown of livestock imports from Mexico after a new world screwworm (NWS) case was reported north of the previous infestations.

  • FDA Rescinds De Minimis for Certain FDA Products

    Jul 16, 2025
    The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) abruptly rescinded its policy allowing de minimis for five product categories — a policy dating back to 1994. This means all shipments of these previously exempt products will now require a PGA Message Set.

  • Updated Importer/Bond Query Record K1 OUTPUT Identifier Deploys Aug 14

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Aug. 14 will deploy an enhancement in the ACE Production (PROD) environment to increase the Record K1 (OUTPUT) identifier from 9 to 10 characters. This enhancement will support higher bond values in the output record. These changes will be deployed in the Certification (CERT) environment on July 15, 2025.

    The NCBFAA Customs Committee and Counsel of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., is monitoring on behalf of our customs broker members the recent letters sent to more than 20 countries by the Trump administration calling for the implementation of varying amounts of tariffs to be imposed by 12:01 a.m. ET on Aug. 1, as well as the imposition of 50% tariffs on copper imports. This memo also provides key tariff-related guidance provided to the trade by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

  • CBP Update To 32 HTS Codes Per Entry Line Results in Changes for FDA ITACS

    Due to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) update to accommodate up to 32 HTS codes per entry line, the line format sent to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been modified. Customs brokers should be aware that this has resulted in a display change in FDA’s Import Trade Auxiliary System (ITACS) and on the Notice of FDA Action.

  • CPSC Documents/Messages Now Available in ACE Portal

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the trade will now have access to Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)-issued documents in the ACE Portal. Customs brokers will now see a “PGA Documents” button in the upper right portion of the account header, giving those users access to any available CPSC-sent forms.
