Previously, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) granted a customs broker additional time, without penalty, to submit entry summaries and payments of duties when the broker experienced a system issue, including those related to local weather disruptions, that prevented timely filing. This practice, known as “snow days,” is no longer in effect.

The first webinar, “Customs Broker Modernization Regulations - Detailed changes to 19 CFR 111,” is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, 1-2 p.m. ET, and the second webinar, “Customs Broker Modernization Regulations - Operationalizing changes to 19 CFR 111,” is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 9, 3-4 p.m. ET.

NCBFAA on Oct. 11 submitted comments to the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) in response to the agency’s Sept. 21 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on proposed definitions for the elements necessary to establish a violation of 46 U.S.C. § 41104(a)(10), which prohibits ocean common carriers from unreasonably refusing to deal or negotiate with respect to vessel space accommodations.
