NCBFAA President Jose D. (JD) Gonzalez during the week of March 6 joined industry members with a delegation of business leaders from the City of Laredo for their yearly Outreach in Washington, D.C. The program was a great success, and JD met with U.S. lawmakers and Biden Administration officials during the visit.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on March 18 will deploy the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Region Alert enhancement to ACE. This enhancement will provide an early notification to customs brokers and their importers of goods that may have been produced in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and will be excluded from entry or delivery into the U.S.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) advised the trade on March 7 that a new the “ACE Currency Exchange Rates” CATAIR chapter has been posted on the agency’s website under the “Draft Chapters: Future Capabilities” section of the CATAIR.

While Vessel Operators (VO), Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs) and software vendors have increased submissions of Electronic Export Manifest (EEM), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is extending the deadline from April 1 to Oct. 1.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) today announced the extension of exclusions in the Section 301 Investigation of China’s Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation. The exclusions were previously scheduled to expire on Aug. 31. The exclusions have now been extended through Nov. 29, 2025.
