(JD) Gonzalez and Executive Vice President Megan Montgomery, as well as a number of members, participated in a De Minimis workshop on Dec. 18-19, alongside several industry leaders, to address the implications of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) De Minimis Enforcement efforts.

Customs brokers recently encountered reporting requests from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Ag inspectors relating to mixed frozen fruit or vegetables. Brokers were asked to provide the specific weight of each type of fruit or vegetable in the blend.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Dec. 16 issued an authorization for Immediate Delivery (ID) procedures for merchandise to be released from Dec. 17 to Dec. 31 in accordance with 19 CFR § 142.21(i). This authorization is offered to filers who may elect to take advantage of the interim Harmonized Tariff Schedule changes, which take effect on or after Jan. 1, 2025.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has updated the ACE CATAIR Entry Summary Create/Update V98. This update will be deployed to the Certification environment in January and Production environment in June.

Filers who are approved to participate in Periodic Monthly Statement (PMS) can pay duties for shipments entered or released during the previous calendar month.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Trade’s Continuing Education Program will host two webinars on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23. These webinars are a part of CBP’s Continuing Education Program and will be worth one credit each.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in a Dec. 16 Federal Register notice said an increase in Section 301 tariff rates on five subheadings of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) covering tungsten products, wafers, and polysilicon will take effect Jan. 1, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. ET.

Customs and Border Protection on Dec. 12 said the CAMIR ACE Air Import Manifest Message Line Identifiers Implementation Guide has been updated.

NCBFAA Vice President Kristi App received the Port of New Orleans Propeller Club’s prestigious 2024 Maritime Person of the Year award on Dec. 11.

If you’re a Licensed Customs Broker and an NCBFAA member, you can earn continuing education credits if you register to attend the 52nd NCBFAA Annual Conference at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass on April 6-9, 2025. The new Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Continuing Education (CE) requirement is mandatory for all individually licensed customs brokers and non-compliance could result in a suspended or revoked license.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Miami International Airport, effective Jan. 12, will have new hours – Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET – for perishable entries (except for live animals) which require cargo processing at the General Aviation Facility outside Cargo Operations regular business hours.

NCBFAA joined 20 other trade organizations in a Dec. 10 letter calling for the Senate Finance Committee to expeditiously process the qualified nominees – William Patrick J, Kimmitt (Republican), James Bernard Coughlan (Democrat), and Halie L. Craig (Republican) – to serve on the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC).
