The Fish and Wildlife Service is reportedly asking importers to provide additional information related
to imports of fresh squid, particularly species Illex argentina and/or Dosidicus gigas, according to an
email sent to members of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America.
This request for additional information applies to fresh forms of squid, such as meat, tentacles and
the body, and not to processed products such as noodles, pasta or fried or battered items, the NBCFAA
said, quoting FWS.
FWS is asking for these pieces of information for all current and future declarations: (1) harvesting
vessel names; (2) harvesting vessel fishing authorizations; (3) harvest dates; and (4) harvest areas. Read more
