CBP Clarifies Informal Entry Unavailable for 9903 Goods Above $250, Including China

Imported goods subject to heading 9903 tariff subheadings, including goods from China, may qualify for informal entry only if the goods are valued at $250 or less, CBP indicated in answers to questions posed by the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America at a recent meeting.

The NCBFAA had asked specifically about whether the $250 informal entry limit applies to goods from China. But goods from Canada and Mexico that face new 25% tariffs March 4 also are classified under heading 9903. The informal entry limit is normally $2,500.
