The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reminded the trade community that former U.S. export restrictions imposed on certain medical supplies and equipment to combat the spread of COVID-19 are now lifted.

In a win for the importer-plaintiffs, the U.S. Court of International Trade on July 6 granted a preliminary injunction to suspend the liquidation of unliquidated import entries subject to Lists 3 and 4A duties subject to the Section 301 litigation. Plaintiffs should work with their respective counsel, as appropriate, to ensure they provide additional information that the court requires regarding unliquidated entries and also are handling liquidated entries appropriately.

USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) announced it will continue to accept electronically produced versions of phytosanitary certificates through Dec. 31, 2021.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has updated and deployed ACE programming to allow accelerated payment (AP) to be secured by a sufficient and valid 1A continuous bond provided the bond's effective date is on or before the AP request date.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has appointed Alberto Flores to serve as port director of the Laredo, Texas port of entry.

The Commerce Department on June 28 began requiring and collecting aluminum import licenses for all covered entries into the U.S.

The House Appropriations Homeland Security Committee on June 29 released its fiscal year 2022 appropriations bill, which provides $14.11 billion in net discretionary appropriations for Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revoked the Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs) for non-NIOSH-approved disposable respirators, effective July 6, and the EUAs for decontamination and bioburden reduction systems, effective June 30.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on Friday, Oct. 10, announced modifications to its Section 301 tariffs on foreign ships calling U.S. ports, effective Oct. 14, as well as the addition of tariffs for container-handling equipment imports.

The Committee will provide related Customs and Border Protection (CBP) guidance to our customs broker members as soon as it’s received.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has stepped up outreach to the trade to increase awareness of DEA import and export requirements. DEA officials recently visited several local customs broker associations to spread the word about importer and exporter requirements under the Controlled Substances Act with particular emphasis on chemicals that can be used to manufacture fentanyl.
