  • CPSC Clarifies Messaging Process at Ports Where CPSC Is Not Present

    The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has clarified its automated 2-way Messaging after an NCBFAA member discovered seemingly inconsistent procedures at a port where CPSC is not primarily located. The Commission explained that the trade will NOT receive CPSC’s regular automated “Under Review” and “May Proceed” messages if CPSC is not co-located at that port.

  • Confusion over APHIS Lacey PGA flag AL2 on HTS No. 4415.20.8000

    Due to the AL2 PGA flag for HTS No. 4415.20.8000, many NCBFAA member firms have been forced to "trick" their brokerage systems into allowing the transmission of a "B" disclaimer for used pallets and (new and used) pallets under load.

  • Due Diligence Reminder to Forwarders, NVOCCs Handling Counterfeit Merchandise

    An NVOCC was recently cleared by a New York District Court opinion involving liability in its role transporting counterfeit Nike sneakers to the U.S., but the case should serve as a warning to all forwarders and NVOCCs that they must still be careful not to transport counterfeit goods unwittingly or willingly.

  • CBP Recommended Submission of Spreadsheets for Entry Changes Being Protested

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Sept. 24 issued a message to provide the trade community with information regarding additional data that may be provided with protest submissions. While this recommended approach may provide some benefits, NCBFAA continues to advocate for the ability to file protests directly into the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) where the customs broker can provide a revised entry summary that would streamline processing for both CBP and the broker.
