Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1422+ member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • BIS Revision to Firearms License Requirements

    Oct 3, 2025
    The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued a final rule, effective Sept. 30, relaxing license requirements and reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens on Americans and the industry. This rule rescinds a previous interim final rule published on April 30, 2024, which expanded controls and license requirements for firearms.

Background on RTM:
Digital Customs and Trade Facilitation Reverse Trade Mission (September 9-20, 2024) – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is hosting a series of reverse trade mission (RTM) visits to the United States for Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) countries.  The first RTM scheduled for September 2024 will include delegations from India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam with focus on customs processing systems, cargo scanning and tracking systems, blockchain solutions, artificial intelligence, data management, risk management, express consignment and small package shipments, and other priority topics of interest to the delegation.  The RTM will bring customs officials and relevant government agencies to the United States to familiarize them with U.S. technologies, services, and best practices to digitalize customs and trade facilitation processes and procedures.  The RTMs will build awareness for U.S. technologies, solutions, and best practices that can support safe, secure, and efficient supply chains in the Indo-Pacific Region.
