Sayari Webinar: Navigating Language Barriers in Investigations

Whether investigating transnational criminal networks or conducting enhanced due diligence on a risky supplier, analysts and compliance professionals inevitably end up reviewing documents written in languages they don’t understand. And while services like Google Translate make it relatively easy to comprehend the gist of a foreign-language news article, for example, they have limitations which can make it difficult to rely on them entirely for deep dive investigations or enhanced due diligence across a multitude of languages.

Fortunately you don’t need to pick up Mandarin to learn how to get more insight out of Chinese records. Join Sayari’s Phil Kittock, Lead Analytical Content Manager, on Wednesday, August 13th at 11:00am EDT to learn techniques for navigating these language barriers in your investigations.

Topics will include:

  • When to use Google Translate, and when to avoid it
  • What to do when you only have the English name of a Chinese company
  • How to make sense of variations in company names across languages and jurisdictions

This masterclass is for trade compliance professionals who need to navigate the nuances of restricted party lists and English-language supplier disclosures without native language expertise.
