Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1,300 member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • Supreme Court Clears Way for Sweeping Government Worker Layoffs

    Jul 16, 2025
    The U.S. Supreme Court on July 9 lifted a lower court that blocked nearly a dozen federal government agencies from implementing layoffs and reorganizations involving hundreds of thousands of federal workers. The decision paves the way for these agencies to move forward with the reorganization and reduction-in-force plans, as required by Executive Order 14210 issued in March. The reorganization plans have been on hold since the May 2 injunction.

  • USDA Again Halts Livestock Imports from Mexico

    U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on July 9 announced an immediate shutdown of livestock imports from Mexico after a new world screwworm (NWS) case was reported north of the previous infestations.

The Detroit Field Office would like to invite you to our annual Carrier and Bonded Facility Operators meeting.  This year’s meeting will be held in-person at the Rosa Parks Federal Building located at 985 Michigan Ave. Detroit, MI 48226, and will provide the trade community with an opportunity to attend formal presentations from both Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGA).  Topics will include challenges faced by carriers and bonded facility operators, proposed solutions to issues, recognized best practices and known benefits to carriers and bonded facilities in the truck, air, rail, and sea environments.
